Little Owls Day Nursery has an opportunity for a Level 2 qualified Apprentice to progress to your Level 3 childcare qualification while also gaining valuable job experience. Various duties, such as activities with the children and ensuring their safety, will be completed throughout this apprenticeship.

Annual wage £10,296 a year
The hourly rate is £6.60.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work
To complete all aspects of the apprenticeship requirements surrounding both on and off the job training to enable successful completion of the apprenticeship programme
To work closely with the entire Little Owls team to effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met.
To work closely with the entire Little Owls team to provide age and stage appropriate resources and play opportunities to all children and to you consistently engage in children’s play and learning each day.
To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
To ensure you always adhere to and follow procedures in relation to meeting the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
To advise manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, monthly staff meetings, open days etc as and when required
To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snacks, cleansing of equipment, etc.
To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and to be responsible for keeping yourself updated when company policies and procedures are reviewed.
To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Undertake any other relevant duties as reasonably requested by the management team.
To work closely with the rest of Little Owls staff to provide a high standard of care and education for all children attending the setting.
To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which each individual child can play, develop and learn.
To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Other requirements
1. Experience in working with/caring for young children within an early years setting.
2. Knowledge of child development and supporting individual children's needs.
3. An understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding children's procedures.
4. Develop your own knowledge and practice and reflect on and evaluate your own values, priorities, interests and effectiveness. Monitor your own work practices.
5. All DHH staff and volunteers are encouraged to contribute to identifying and meeting their own job-related development needs. This will be achieved through a variety of processes including regular 1-2-1’s with Line Managers or senior colleagues, supervisions and development reviews.
6. All employees are subject to regular supervision to maximise the benefit from this process the employee must engage fully in the review and agree with their Line Manager organisational, team and personal objectives.
7. Each employee must co-operate and attend all appropriate mandatory and statutory training as required by the organisation and /or their professional bodies.

After this apprenticeship

For the successful candidate there is the possibility of ongoing employment upon completion of the relevant qualification.
