We are Dove House Hospice, a dedicated service supporting patients with life limiting illnesses. Providing a range of therapies, services and support, we aim to shine light into the darkest days within comfortable and caring environment.

We offer outstanding palliative care to patients and support to carers and families, adding life to days when days can’t be added to life.

We are now looking for a Transport Coordinator to join us on a part-time basis to assist our Retail Department.

As Retail Transport Coordinator you will provide an effective and efficient collection and deliveries booking service for the Dove House furniture outlets covering both the telephones and face to face enquiries. Working as part of the At Home shop staff team, you will deliver great customer service and use your administration, telephony and retail skills and knowledge to support your colleagues, control costs, maximise profitability and raise as much money as possible for the hospice.

You’ll join the retail arm of a key care provider supporting people at a time when they need it the most, meaning you’ll be giving back and helping make a difference whilst building upon your own career capabilities.

The Role

1. Arranging the delivery of sold items of furniture and the collection of donated large bulky items using the online booking system, in line with training standards guidelines.
2. Ensuring all collections and deliveries are scheduled in the most efficient manner and documented appropriately.
3. Assisting in the running of the shop as and when required to do so i.e. to cover breaks, holidays and sickness or when delivery/collections bookings are infrequent. Tasks include cash handling using the epos system, stock merchandising, barcoding stock
and assisting customers with enquiries.
4. Ensuring excellent customer service is delivered both on the telephone and face to face.
5. Working as a team to achieve sales targets within the shop and keep costs within budget.
6. Ensuring all customers are advised about Gift Aid and that each new sign up receives the appropriate documentation.
7. Working closely with driving staff to provide a comprehensive service including planning routes and rotas as directed.

About You

To join us as a Retail transport Coordinator you will need:

1. Excellent telephone manner
2. IT literate and capable of using Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
3. Excellent customer service skills
4. Able to work as part of team
5. Able to work on own initiative
6. Good knowledge of Hull and surrounding areas

Ideally, you will have a basic knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety at work and a knowledge of trading standards, but this is not essential. Experience of computerised booking systems would also be beneficial, as would having a good knowledge of the Hospice and what we do.

There are two roles available, as follows:-
1 x 25 hours working 10.00am to 3.00pm Monday - Friday
1 x 8 hours working 11.00am to 3.00pm Saturday and Sunday
