Job Title: Bank Staff Nurse
Hours of work: Shifts
Hourly rate of pay: £12.08 per hour (To be paid in arrears monthly, for example Shifts completed in May will be paid in June)
Closing Date: Friday 14th May 2021
Hours of work: The hours of work are on an as and when required basis, to cover
periods of sickness/annual leave. Availability of work on our Bank will obviously vary dependent on many factors. We must state that we are under no obligation to offer you work, and for legal reasons all work offered and accepted will be separate from the next. We are looking to recruit a Bank Staff Nurse to be part of our award winning team providing excellence in person centred care for people in the local community living with life limiting illnesses.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communicate appropriately with patients, their carers and relatives and other visitors to the unit.
2. Communicate appropriately with all staff, liaise with other departments and agencies and attend internal meetings as appropriate.
3. Ensure the hospice’s policies relating to the security, control and administration of drugs are adhered to in line with NMC guidance.
4. At the request of a senior nurse and under their guidance co-ordinate in-patient activity and communications for the duration of a shift as appropriate.
5. Participate in the supervision and appraisal from an identified senior nurse.
6. Under the direction of a senior nurse participate in the induction of new staff, both paid and unpaid as requested to the Inpatient Unit and Day Therapy Unit.
7. With appropriate guidance contribute to the role development of unqualified staff on the Inpatient Unit and Day Therapy Unit.
8. Participate in Dove House Hospice clinical governance arrangements and attend the monthly clinical forum as requested by senior nurses.
9. Supervise, direct and support volunteers working on the inpatient unit and Day Therapy Unit.
10. Report and record any complaints from patients, visitors and staff reporting them to the nurse in charge.
11. Attend statutory training as requested and be responsible for own professional development in line with MNC requirements.
12. Work in other areas of patient care as required, subject to the needs of the service.
13. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all aspects of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and all Dove House Hospice policies and procedures.
14. Undertake any other relevant duties as requested by senior nurses.
NB This job description may be amended in consultation with the post holder in the light of on-going, changing Organisational needs.
JOB SUMMARY:
1. Demonstrate and develop an interest and expertise in palliative care and end of life care nursing.
2. In conjunction with the senior nurse on duty, be responsible for the nursing care and support of an identified group of patients.
3. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, documenting all relevant information accurately and legibly.
4. Ensure that a patient’s holistic needs are met in a person centred way.
The above post enables the holder to have access to persons in receipt of health services in the course of his/her normal duties and as Dove House Hospice meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced check with Barred List Check (Adult) through the Disclosure & Barring Service. This will contain details of all convictions on the Police National Computer including cautions, reprimands or final warnings which would not be filtered in line with current guidance. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining employment.
