Bank Car Boot & Events Assistant
Hours of work: The hours of work are on an as and when required basis, to cover periods of sickness/annual leave. Availability of work on our Bank will obviously vary dependent on many factors. We must state that we are under no obligation to offer you work, and for legal reasons all work offered and accepted will be separate from the next. No mutuality of obligation shall subsist between engagements. Likewise, by joining our Bank you are under no obligation to accept work when it is offered to you.
Salary: £9.50 per hour

About you:
• Willing to embody the hospice’s values – United we will be: positive, professional and passionate.
• Passion for working in the charity sector.
• Event management or coordination experience.
• Cash handling experience.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to talk to, and be understood by, individuals from across the community.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Confident, diplomatic and tactful with the ability to deal with the varying requirements of the traders/customers/hospice staff.
• Flexible with the ability to react positively and professionally when plans change.
• Good numeracy skills in order to take cash/give change without a till.
• Able to work unsociable hours i.e. Sunday mornings during the Car Boot season
About the role:
• Support the Hospice Events team at fundraising throughout the year.
• Assist with setting up/taking down infrastructure at the event (e.g. gazebos, tables etc)
• Coordinate the weekly Car Boot Sales ensuring that they run smoothly for everyone involved.
• Be the main point of contact for all public queries regarding the event on the day, referring any follow ups necessary to the Events Coordinator and/or the Head of Communication & Events.
• Coordinate the team of volunteers and other staff helping at the event.
• Manage car parking and traffic flow throughout the hospice site, ensuring there is sufficient space available for patient visitors and disabled badge holders.
• Be responsible for the health and safety of all the traders, customers and staff at the event ensuring that you are familiar with the event risk assessment.
• Ensure that any Fundraising opportunities are maximised and that collection buckets and any necessary banners/posters are clearly visible.
• Collect the pitch fees from the traders and be responsible for handing all cash (including donations) in to the hospice reception.
• Be responsible for tidying the site after the event, ensuring all litter is removed from the field.
• Promote the event as such as possible.
• Consider ways the event can be improved on a week by week basis.
